Sgt. Pepper's was proto-prog, proto-electronica, proto-psychedelic, proto-Billy Joel, proto-rap, proto-jazz, proto-Wonder Years, and proto-proto-punk.
Let's face it, okay? With "With a Little Help from My Friends", The Beatles changed the way we thought about friendship. "Getting Better" changed the way our education system filled children up with their rules. "Lovely Rita" changed the way our local meter maid wrote tickets. "A Day in the Life" changed the way we all lived our lives. If this album sounds dated, there's something wrong with your ears. It doesn't sound dated to Rolling Stone, now does it?

Hahaha.. if only Brian Wilson realised at the time he was already the king of 60s pop, maybe he wouldn't have spent the subsequent 20 years under sedation.

McCartney said himself Pet Sounds was the main influence of Sgt. Pepper's, although i feel Sgt.Pepper's takes the sound of Pet sounds onto a new level, and I fell it pushed the boundaries of music more than Pet Sound's did. 
From the backward taping in Being The Benifit Of Mr. Kite, and onto the huge orchestral climax in A Day In A Life

This post is smothered in sarcasm. I guess it reads as only "a hint" since
it's not uncommon to hear worse sensationalism from sincere Beatles fans. I do prefer this to Revolver, anyhow- mainly because the cover art is pretty cool.
Are there any Beatles here who actually like "Within You Without You"? I've gotten the impression that even Beatlemaniacs think this one is out of place and mediocre, at best. Yes, we get it, Indian influences! Sure, but it's still a stinker. They should have put "Only a Northern Song" (one of my favorite Beatles songs) on the album, instead of "Within You Without You."

Unfortunately I love Within You Without You 
Maybe Baby Your A Rich Man would've fitted better, or indeed Only A Northern Song, although Only A Northern Song, of course, was placed on the Yellow Submarine soundtrack in 1968......
