Haven't been a lot of good stuff so far IMO.

My favorites so far that I have listened to:

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Bob Dylan - Together Through Life
U2 - No Line On the Horizon
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz

That's about it, nothing to impressive.

I'm not overly thrilled with 2009 music so far. Don't think that I'll be listening to more than a handful of these three years from now. My top 20 at this time:

1. Dirty Projectors, Bitte Orca
2. Sunset Rubdown, Dragonslayer
3. The XX, XX
4. The Mars Volta, Octahedron
5. Antony & The Johnsons, The Crying Light
6. Muse, The Resistance
7. Grizzly Bear, Veckatimest
8. Bill Callahan, Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle
9. The Antlers, Hospice
10. The Derek Trucks Band, Already Free
11. Matthew Good, Vancouver
12. Metric, Fantasies
13. The Veils, Sun Gangs
14. U2, No Line On The Horizon
15. Brandi Carlile, Give Up the Ghost
16. Patrick Wolf, The Bachelor
17. Miranda Lambert, Revolution
18. Built to Spill, There Is No Enemy
19. Andrew Bird, Noble Beast
20. Yeah Yeah Yeahs, It's Blitz!

Speaking of mediocrity, I am terribly disappointed by Lisa Germano's recent output. Has anybody else listened to that one ?
Fortunately, Hope Sandoval has come up with a very nice work. Try it if you ever liked Mazzy Star, the charm is still here.

I'm not generally a fan of country/alt country. In 2009 however music pickings have been really slim unless you're into computers, synth pop/rock and distortion. Thankfully,

Miranda Lambert, Revolution
Brandi Carlile, Give Up The Ghost
Rosanne Cash, The List
Neko Case, Middle Cyclone

are proof positive that there still exist performers today who are both good singers and can play real instruments.
