I like this album. I think it's Death Cab's best. Photo Album is hit and miss. Their second album is really good though and overlooked. I feel a certain sense of regional pride here, especially since I met these guys and interviewed them right after their first album came out. Also, they formed in the town I later went to teaching college in in the mid 2000's. In the late 90's though, they were the buzz band to watch in Washington state and for a little indie band from Bellingham, WA, they've gone further than many people thought possible. I wasn't surprised though. They were a great band early on. I knew immediately they had something special from the outset. I think they've perhaps become a little too adult alternative and homogenized in recent years, but Transatlanticism, their indie swan song, is a solid record and their high point. It doesn't deserve the nose thumbing and crap dishing it's getting. Oh, well. Enjoy your Bon Iver and Antlers records. Me? I'd rather listen to this one.

I agree with Mr Shankly that The Photo Album was a bit hit and miss (with Styrofoam Plates definitely on the 'hit side). I enjoy Transatlanticism (and Plans that followed) much more.
