Two things: A. Scarlett Johansson is positively sexy in that movie. B: Lost in Translation bores me. It's not funny, except for that one scene with the crazy woman who thought Murray was trying to come on to her, and there's little music to up any emotional tension if any.

I tried ranking my favourite movies before. It turned out even worse than my album list. But these were the top 5, unordered:

2001: A Space Odyssey I'm a big Kubrick fan - but then again, who isn't?

Sabrina the 1954 Billy Wilder one, with Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, and William Holden - not to be confused with its Harrison Ford remake

Perfect Blue my favourite from one of anime's greats - the late Satoshi Kon, a man with the same magic of Miyazaki, but expressed in a darker manner

All Dogs Go to Heaven a great movie, but a sad story - the end of Don Bluth's great 80s streak, it was unfortunate enough to open within days of The Little Mermaid (which basically ushered in the Disney Renaissance and left Bluth's name irrelevant until Anastasia). The only sadder story is that of Judith Barsi.

Immortel (ad vitam) based on the first book in the Nikopol Trilogy of graphic novels and actually directed by its author entirely on a digital backlot with only 3 live-action actors - this movie is where I discovered Sigur Rós

Holy shit these are some fucking amazing movies. It's hard for me to rank comedies alongside drama/action movies, but these are two hilarious movies.

The sad part is I really don't laugh at these movies anymore, I don't know if I "grew up" or just became more jaded as my taste changed. Think

Okay, I'm fucking sick of people comparing that movie to Glee. Just because a movie has people who sing doesn't make it like Glee. By that logic, Les Miserables was just a Glee wannabe, too.

On top of that, just because a movie's plot is formulaic doesn't make it bad, either. I didn't say it was groundbreaking. However, it's funny, cleverly written, well-acted, and has a moving, if not terribly original, storyline. If you disagree, good for you, but that's a matter of opinion.
