- Post subject: Top 5 songs for a funeral
|
I know its kind of a morbid topic, but I just watched "High Fidelity" again, and realized that this would be a good thread.
Here's a really quick list I'm sure I'll revise it later:
Road - Nick Drake (the whole pink moon album deals with life and death so almost any song off it would be fitting)
My Sweet Lord - George Harrison
Shine Like Stars - Primal Scream
Anywhere I Lay My Head - Tom Waits
All Apologies - Nirvana
Please don't pick something stupid like 'Another One Bites the Dust' by Queen or 'Good Riddance' by Green Day. Try to keep your choices unique, and personal to you. Seeing as you only have one funeral. You'd want to be remembered well wouldn't you?

Awesome topic and awesome list. Like you said, a lot of Nick Drake songs would work. Your pick is a good one though.
Brian Eno- Some of Them Are Old (I may actually write this in my will)
T. Rex-Life's a Gas
Fairport Convention- Farewell, Farewell
The Smiths- That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
Lou Reed- Goodnight Ladies
Pink Floyd- Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Great Gig in the Sky.

Nice idea for a thread. If it was my funeral I'd not want people to be sad. So for me, some happy and calming songs:
Good Times - Eric Burdon and The Animals (great lyrics, the soundtrack for my life)
Dance the Night Away - The Mavericks (met my girlfriend)
By Your Side - Sade
Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles
Why Worry - Dire Straits

here comes the sun-beatles
one-U2
At least that's what I would have played.

On another note, bananabrother I would recommend the book High Fidelity. Kind of depressing sometimes, but really good and funny.

Yeah, i heard that the book was good. Its funny the book and the movie are great, so it was made into a broadway play. It was the shortest running show ever on broadway lasting only one week. I can't even imagine how much it would suck to have to close so soon since it takes about $10 million to produce and show and get it on broadway.
