I just listened to these two for the 31st time and I've always liked them equally. Which album do you prefer, and why if there is a reason?

You should probably stop being a square and listen to both.

UP all the way for me though.

Closer. And I can't really say why, I just like the music more.

Closer. Unknown Pleasures is quickly growing on me, but Closer can't really be beaten.

Atrocity Exhibition is easily their best song.

Both albums are in my top ten albums list, so I like them both equally. But in all honesty, I would have to give the nod to Closer.

the joj or 96?

Just kidding. Like most of my favorite bands my favorite album often depends on what mood I'm in.

I'd say Unknown Pleasures. Closer is brilliant, but I have to be in the right mood to listen to it, it's really gloomy at times. Unknown Pleasures is brilliant too, but I find it more accessible in a way, and it won't get me down.

Closer is so bleak, at least on UP there is some light at the end of the tunnel. (CellarDoor)
