One of the best albums of the 90's. Doug Martsch is simultaneously a great songwriter and one of the best guitarists of his generation (Think J. Mascis). Also, this is an example of indie band going major and keeping their sound and integrity intact.

Built to spill went major ?

Yeah. This album was released on the Warner Bros- Reprise label. Not counting Nirvana, I think Built to Spill was one of the first 90's era, originally indie, bands that to signed to a major. I think they're back on an indie label now though. Think

Built to Spill on warner music ! i'm very surprised. they are such an unknown band, even if they have one of the most consistent career ever. only 102 votes for example in BEA

True. It's not usually the case that lesser known bands are on major labels, but The Flaming Lips have been on Warner Bros for 3/4 of their career, and this includes a time when they were really obscure.

So my first listen was only maybe 4 or 5 days ago, but I'm probably about 15 listens in by now. Fantastic album to say the least. It's tough to write 6-9 minute songs that don't get boring, but they pulled it off throughout the album.
