i almost bit it driving 95 mph at night in wyoming while listening to the decemberists' "mariner's revenge song". of course, it wasn't a whale that almost ended me but a deer. turns out i survived unscathed while my ship (car) sank.

Actually, even then it wasn't considered cool. Lester Bangs would've burned it and blasted some Iggy.
