downloaded music Vs. cd's and vinyl?

i was just curious as to how many people on this site still collect cd's or vinyl as opposed to just downloading the music. Most people i know got rid of all their cd's in favor of downloading.
its really a must for me to have the artwork and liner notes that go along with the album, so i still collect cds.

I've only purchased maybe 9 or 10 CDs in the past two and a half years or so; that's around the time when I bought my iPod. Of the CDs that I purchased a few were imports that I couldn't find digitally, or a new album by a favorite artist of mine for which I really wanted the actual CD and liner notes. My friend has an extensive vinyl collection; I'm jealous.

Digital is just much more convenient. I really don't have time to go to a store and see if they have what I want, and I can't see myself just browsing. I could order CDs online but then I would have to wait for them to come. I like being able to just randomly think of an album at 2am and download right there and then.

I do feel that I'm missing out on something by not having the liner notes and actual artwork (I have artwork on my iPod), but it's not that big of a deal to me.

All my music is digital lol. It's just a lot more easier and convenient for me. The only problem is my computer's small hard drive which I will have to do something about eventually.

But I get very nitpicky with my music in iTunes, everything has to have album artwork, artist name, track number, etc.

Nearly all my music is digital, downloaded illegally. I do collect vinyl records but don't have the disposable income for it now. I'm also thinking of changing over to cd's as I find they sound considerably better. The best part of vinyl is the size of the packaging - the artwork & lyrics are actually legible. I have a few albums downloaded in flac on my computer, and it made me realize how significant the difference in quality is between mp3's & cds. The flac sounds far more powerful than my ipod; a cd would sound even better. Mp3's are pretty damn handy and have allowed me to explore the history of music without spending a dime. I don't feel bad downloading music, but I am aware that it's not quite the same as listening to a cd.

CDs have the best sound quality right now, digital music is BY FAR the easiest (most accessible, biggest volume of music you can get, etc), but albums on vinyl are just cool.
Most of my music is digital.

As digital music gets better and better quality, I think CDs will die.

cds are dying in a sense...first tower records shut down, then warehouse, and just a month ago the virgin megastore. its kinda sad.

my whole music listening experience is very ritualistic. i first open the cd and check out the artwork...maybe scan the liner notes, and then put on the cd and rock out. it may seem strange but i feel that is how the artist would have wanted it to be done.

i have an ipod but its used mainly for convenience...music on the go (school, work, gym). the only time ive ever downloaded music was when "in rainbows" came out. but with the death of the cd im probably going to have to change my ways. i already feel im missing out by not doing so. some of the albums ive discovered on this website i cant seem to find on cd...it really sucks.

I still own about 500 records and about 1400 cd's. I have a TB hard drive almost full of downloaded music, and i havent actually purchased a CD in years. I just get Lossless or FLAC downloads which are CD quality. when available of course.

I'd rather have the album so I can see the artwork and the booklet and everything. If the album's too expensive though, I'm forced to go digital.

I prefer a record, but I get all my cd's from the library and I rip it for free. Great deal, I highly recommend it if you have a decent library system, especially if the one has a search/prospector which can use all the libraries in a specific region.
