I was wondering if any of you are familiar with an early 80's song called East Of Eden? I love this song but cannot find it on You Tube at all.

Here are some of the lyrics:

If even a child cannot love like a child,
Then we've come east of eden.
And if we're too proud to see that the earth
Has a reason to cry;
Then our lives have been in vain.

If water is all that we see in a tear
Then we've come east of eden;
If all our hopes and horizons are too far
For a mortal to reach
Then our lives have been in vain.

(This song was constantly played on the radio back in the early eighties. It was a hit.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

here's two East of Eden's from the '80s, but they don't have the same lyrics you posted. the song you described doesn't seem to exist; either the lyrics or the title is wrong

I have this song on an old cassette tape. It does exist.

Oh, and thanks for invading my privacy on goodreads!

The lyrics look very much like an English translation of a German song from the early 80s:

Jenseits von Eden - Nino Di Angelo

I couldn't find an English version, but is this the song you mean?
