Great record, about as optimistic as Iggy gets. Some Weird Sin is a under-recognized beaut

Speaking of Iggy, where has purple been lately? Think

haha, I'm gone for four days and you miss me already? I just got back from an amazing geomorphology conference in Grand Teton National Park: rafting the Snake River; socializing (read: boozing) with some of the giants of geomorphology; talking rocks, rivers, glaciers, etc.

Anyways, this is a near perfect album, marred only by Turn Blue. The entire A-side is gold, with the first four songs echoing the forward drive, sex, and drugs/booze of the Stooges through Bowie's pop filter, and with the China-Girl-esque ender Tonight... something about the lotus eaters, nymphs, cyclops, and other masculine dangers in the Odyssey... Over-looked songs on the B-side are Neighborhood Threat and Fall In Love With Me; Success is interesting because the call-and-response... something about Bo Diddley and the blues... one of the most personal and inadvertently intellectual albums a tried-and-true rock-n-roller can ever hope to make...

Turn Blue is my favourite song on the album or maybe The Passenger is, in any case the album is certainly not "marred" by it Confused

Only four days? Damn, felt like more than that Laughing . Maybe because there was a lack of reaction to 2010 losing

Anyway, I love Turn Blue, especially the second half ("OH, OH, OH, OH, OH MAMA! I SHOT MYSELF.. UP!"). I don't think there's a weak track here anyway, in fact my least favourite track is probably Lust for Life. Which is the first song I heard from the album, back when I first saw Trainspotting (and I liked it of course)

These forums do lose some of their unpredictability when Purple is gone...
