Much like the song Disarm on Siamese Dream, which I've always thought was very aptly named, what are some songs that surprise you on a particular album? By this I mean songs that completely shake up an album that seemingly is developing a certain pace or sound. Specifically, songs that do this yet still seem to fit well into the album. It's easy to find a song that doesn't seem to fit, but what about songs that have a different pace or sound, yet still do manage to fit well into the scheme of the album? A tough feat to accomplish as an artist it seems.

Besides Disarm, Riot Van by Arctic Monkeys comes to mind for me. Everything is very upbeat and fast paced, then this song comes along and suspends the attack for a couple minutes. But it still fits very well, as it's a sort of chance for the listener to catch their breaths for the next round. It feels like the right time for it.

Shakedown on 9th Street on Heartbreaker
Untitled on Turn on the Bright Lights is an example of this except it's the first track on the album.

'The Storm' by Doves on the album Some Cities. Breaks up the melodic indie rock with a throw back to their electronic and sampling roots.
