The grammy Nominees for album of the Year are...

WTF?

Ok, I expected a lot of things to happen. I knew the grammy voters would line up to kiss Adele's ass, I knew Born This Way was gonna get up there somewhere, but the rest of the albums shouldn't be up there:

The Nominees
1. 21-Adele
Jeez, with all of the hype surrounding this one I'm surprised Jesus himself doesn't come down and anoint this as the GREATEST ALBUM EVER MADE!!!!!! I'm kidding, this is a solid album, possibly one of the better ones released this year, I say possibly because at least 3 albums I know have it beat by a mile and will likely be remembered for far longer (So Beautiful Or So What-Paul Simon, Bon Iver-Bon Iver, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy). With this field though, she's gonna win it. I guarantee it.

2.Wasting light-Foo Fighters
I expected So Beautiful Or So What to sneak in here, but this is a solid choice, it's certainly better than Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace from a few years back. Not gonna win.

3.Born This Way-Lady Gaga
An artist who has pushed the boundaries of what Pop music can do, all the while carping off of the glories of the past, how can the grammies not let her walk away with the win? Because they prefer vanilla to rocky road, and Lady Gaga will likely never win. but she got 3 albums nominated in 3 years, that's an accomplishment. Here's to many more. Not Gonna Win

4.Loud-Rihanna
Ha! Moving on...

5.Doo Wops & Hooligans-Bruno Mars
I'm actually not that miffed about this one, Bruno Mars made the summer just float by with his singles. That said, he seems very likeable, which seems to be the theme for grammy voters, a theme that means a metal album, hardcore hip-hop album or weird art-rock album will never get a nod for album of the year. Hence the exclusion of MBDTF, sure Kanye messed up but come on...This is great music ya dumbass voters. Not gonna win.

Rihanna is the token nomination here, one that's all the more inexplicable for the albums it pushed off of the field. You know the ones i'm talking about. Any ways, Adele is all but assured a trip to the podium for all of the awards she is nominated for. I leave you with the list of albums i had thought would make the list.

I'm sorry Grammy Nominees, but what have we got here? The only ones I can say I liked are Wasting Light, 21, and Born this Way. King of Limbs? Helplessness Blues? TORCHES? Where is the variety?

Last year we had my favourite band steal the show (Arcade Fire), and while not everyone thinks it was deserving of Album of the Year, I believed it was 100% worthy.

This year wasn't very good for music in general. We had Bon Iver, which was okay at best.. o.o
