There are better albums from both Mercer and Danger Mouse to listen to, but this isn't bad background stuff.

There is one great song near the end (Mongrel Heart) that is by far the best song on the album. A sort of Cure/Spaghetti Western mix that obviously inspired Danger Mouse to make the full album Rome in 2011.

I just wasn't all that familiar with The Shins when this came out (a deep, dark secret I know) so I was able to enjoy it comparison-free. Over time, though, I did grow a bit tired of it and I'm now thoroughly aware of The Shins.

YES. OH MY GOD YES.

This is the best AOTD that I've seen so far in my entire time on the site. I realize there is some repetitiveness amongst certain songs but "The High Road" is one of my favourite songs ever. I hold this album in extremely high regard. Honestly, I like it better than The Shins' stuff though Port of Morrow comes very close to it.
