This album was the point where I gave up on the Human League. I loved Travelogue and Reproduction, but some of the singles from the post-split band were weak. The 'girl singers' were just lifeless and the band seemed to be striving fo r chart success at all costs. My mum and younger sister quite liked the album and it remained in my mum's house after I moved out. Dare is a truly awful album.

It's a very good album, probably one the best synthpop LPs. I didn't use to like it, but on recent re-listens, I found it much less superficial and cheesy than I once thought it was. Very coherent.

The Human League were not a one hit wonder band. They had a string of Top 10 hits in the UK and Human was also a number one single in the US.

I like some of this album. Seconds is a great synth track but it mostly sounds a bit too commercial for me. They were clearly going for chart success with Dare.

Notice I said one hit wonder type band. I knew they weren't one hit wonders, but they're pretty close. Do you know anyone who remembers all their hits? I doubt it because they had one huge one which everyone remembers them for. Perhaps they aren't one hit wonders, but like I said, pretty close.
