A good album. I would hardly call this grunge though. Until Superunknown they were really more of a metal band. I kind of with they didn't reunite and release King Animal. A great band either way though.

This is a fantastic album. The song "Rusty Cage" is the one that I credit with my great awakening to rock music as before that I pretty much listened to Top 40. This was also the first album I bought on CD (before that there were these things called cassette tapes Shocked ).

Temple of the Dog was the best Cornell-based release from 91.

Right on both points. Soundgarden aren't really grunge. They just came from the same town, and hit it big at the same time. Their roots are in the 80s, before grunge was big. Further, King Animal is a little disappointing.

There are some really great songs on this album. "Drawing Flies", "Rusty Cage"..."Slave And Bulldozers" is a monster. And Cornell's voice more than makes up for his total lack of stage presence. They get lumped in with grunge because they are from Seattle, and this album came out within two weeks of Nevermind. They deserve much better.
