- Post subject: Can we extend the year charts to 100 entries please?
|
I'm just not sure why it's limited to 50 entries, it would be nice to be able to make them up to 100.
I know I can always make a custom chart extension if I want, but I'd much prefer to have the first hundred in one place.
I know you're worried about flooding the database, but 50 entries is just really limiting, and since I can always just stick new albums in a custom chart anyway I don't see there being a reason not to extend it. People who don't listen to major amounts of new music aren't going to fill it up anyway, and in theory only a handful of users will take up the entire allotted 100. But I've already heard over 50 really good albums this year that I believe deserve attention on the site, so it stands to reason that I'll have heard at least 100 great albums by the end of the year.
Thanks for all your continued hard work anyway.

Yeah, I was thinking the same and it sure will not flood the database because we already have custom charts and people can make tons of those so extending year charts will not affect database that much.

Also, if you stopped giving a user point for every album added after 50 then it wouldn't be abused by idiots just trying to further their points on the site. Or maybe just let users of a certain level have a year chart size of 100. There are ways to stop people just filling up their year charts willy nilly whilst still allowing those of us who genuinely want to publish more comprehensive charts do so.

Yeah I couldn't even fill up a year chart with 50 entries, even for recent years. I'm not allowed to make them yet anyway _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!

I think maybe highest levels should be allowed to have 100. Or maybe if a user had done a certain amount of data moderation, to minimize the risk of somebody just flooding the database

I wonder this too. Seriously, I think 200 albums is about max for how many albums you can learn properly each year. Add that nearly everybody needs to catch up with a lot of albums from previous years (I have at least 40 years), it's not all albums you're going to like, maybe you also want to hear your favourites once in a while.. and if you want a life at the same time..
Yeah.. I don't know how you guys pull it off. _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

This. I feel like listening to that many albums takes some of the romance out of it. What's the rush? Lets stop and smell the roses. _________________
