Stunning, it's #2 or #3 on my chart (I can't remember, it and Pink Moon are fairly interchangeable). So happy I got the chance to see it performed live before Arthur Lee passed.

I got rid of my copy because I didn't like it. 4 years later I forgot what it sounds like and would give it another chance if I still had the album. Sad

I love it more and more each time I listen to it. I can see it being on my chart sometime soon.

Same opinion. A serious contender for best album of the 60s, and possibly one of the best albums ever. Oh, and before Naples steps in, even though it IS wonderful, "Alone Again Or" is not even the best song on this.

That's seriously up for debate. I'd say it's between Alone Again Or and The Red Telephone.

Simply a great album, although the tracks after the totally fantastic Maybe The People... (except probably The Good Humor Man...) are not in the same league with most of the previous songs. What I find as a very attractive aspect of this album (as many others too I guess) is the inventive and very effective mixture of influences: You have beautiful strings, gorgeous acoustic guitars along with a touch of electric ones, calm melodies mixed with more playful or agressive ones. There are plenty of great tracks here (I already mentioned Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark and Hilldale, of course there is also Alone Again Or, The Good Humor Man Sees Everything Like This, The Daily Planet), but my favorite by far has to be A House Is Not A Motel. The moment when Lee soars "I hear you calling my name!" and the electric guitar kicks in is a moment which gives me goosebumps. Maybe I like this a little less in comparison to others in this forum, but I love it nevertheless.

Either this or In a Silent Way as the best album of the 60s for me
