A few that spring to mind, in no order necessarily:
Joanna Newsom (track pick: Monkey & Bear)
Belinda Butcher (track pick: if i am)
Fiona Apple (track pick: Anything We Want)
Liz Harris (track pick: Disengaged)
Beth Gibbons (track pick: Glory Box)
Mimi Parker (track pick: Lullaby)
Tina Weymouth (track pick: Born Under Punches)
Kim Deal (track pick: Gigantic)
Kim Gordon (track pick: Pacific Coast Highway)
Lisa Germano (track pick: Cry Wolf)
Exene Cervenka (track pick: The World's A Mess; It's In My Kiss)
PJ Harvey (track pick: To Bring You Me Love)
Victoria Legrande (track pick: The Hours)
Patti Smith (track pick: Gloria)
I think the tracks Monkey & Bear and Glory Box are two songs that best address a kind of burden of gender; they're not anthems like Respect, but are something a bit heavier.
In fairness, when I was updating my chart I did come to realise how little female representation there is on it. There are embarrassingly few albums on which females play any role at all, let alone a significant one.
This. The music industry is a very male-dominated one, so making a thread for the appreciation of men in music is kind of silly.
Weird. My girlfriend has this poster in her room, but I've still never listened to them. I'll have to do that.
That album is pretty good if you like hard rock. They're not a typical girl band. Lyrics are quite sub-par though. But still it packs a punch _________________ RNFNR
