Alright, everybody loves the 60's and the 70's, and I think we all agreed that 60's and 70's were the best decades for the contemporany music, but what about 50's the decade that started all the madness of rock and roll music.
So I would like to know which songs are the best songs of that decade.
In my personal opinion I think that the best song of the 50's is: Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley, because it has all the things that make rock and roll what it is right now, it's sticky, it's casual, it's exceptional, I mean it's elvis.
So What do you think?
The 50s had some great music, to be sure! Some favourites:
Screaming Jay Hawkins - I Put a Spell on You (insane performance)
Elvis Presley - Hound Dog
Elvis Presley - Heartbreak Hotel
Johnny Burnette Trio - The Train Kept A-Rollin'
Carl Perkins - Blue Suede Shoes
Buddy Holly - Not Fade Away
Buddy Holly - That'll Be the Day
Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode
Eddie Cochran - Summertime Blues
The Skyliners - Since I Don't Have You
Just a few I've been listening to recently.
Edit: Oh, Sam Cooke has an incredible voice, I just love it to death, but it seems most of the songs I really like are songs he released in the 60s. Ain't That Good News, for example.
