In the 2000s there were some really hyped debuts by a string of bands that I feel had similar influences or somewhat similar styles. The ones I'm thinking of are The Strokes' "Is This It?", then Interpol's "Turn On The Bright Lights", then the eponymous debut of Franz Ferdinand, followed by "Silent Alarm" by Bloc Party, and the final one I will include is "Whatever People Say I Am, That's what I'm Not" by the Arctic Monkeys. Now the question is which is your favorite? Which do you love the most? Which is the greatest and perhaps had the greatest effect on you as a music fan?

Now I realize there are probably others y'all feel I left off. I know. I'm sorry. But these 5 are always associated in my mind when I think of 2000s debuts by alternative rock groups.

My vote is close between "Is This It?" And "Turn On The Bright Lights". By a nose hair ill take The Strokes debut.

You forgot the best one, Funeral by Arcade Fire. Anyway, my favorite here is Is This It by the Strokes, followed probably by WPSIATWIN by Arctic Monkeys.

Franz Ferdinand has by far the best song out of all of them.

Of this list, Is This It? would be my favourite. I like all of them though.

No I TOTALLY agree Funeral is probably the greatest debut in that era. I would say Is This It compares. Buuuut the reason I didn't lump them with these five is cuz they are sooo different. I feel the five here all have basically the same influences and are all pretty straight forward rock and roll groups with a lot of energy. Funeral is a masterpiece of masterpieces but is too different for me to compare.

Also, Funeral from what I recall sorta grew and grew and grew in hype over the first few years. It just sorta slowly but surely became more and more recognized as a modern classic. Whereas these five I remember being these big "next great rock band!" Type releases with lots of hype surrounding them.

There should be an "other" option. "Other", as in:

Original Pirate Material
Arular
The Cold Vein
The Milk-Eyed Mender
Burial
The Pirate's Gospel
etc.
and even Funeral.
