Do you only own an album if you have it on cd or vinyl, so you really can touch it?
Or does ITunes count too and what about an illegal downlad?

When you've thrown money at it, then you own it.

DRM on music is a crime against art.

Philosophical discussion on wether it is possible to "own" something, imminent.

I don't need to own an album, unless I want maximum quality sound. Got that for all three Bat albums!

YouTube. A few people here think it's stealing, but it's not. Let's not get into that because the thread might be closed like the last thread on that subject was.

I consider I own an album when I have either a physical copy or a virtual copy downloaded on my PC. So streaming doesn't count, but downloaded stuff (legally or illegally) do.

I believe that anyone who is serious about having a music collection and serious about being a music listener should pay for every piece of music they have. That's my opinion. Sticking to it. Period. Not arguing the point, that's just how I feel about it.

Agreed. I can't really explain it but when I listen to music without having paid for it, I feel like I haven't listened to it at all. I've spent well over $1000 on music in the last couple of years.
