Which band do you think, if any, can be single handedly rewarded with molding the decade? Like The Beatles di the 60s or LZ or PF did the 70s.

I'm not putting bands who's first major release was in a different decade. Like Radiohead won't be an option because they released their first LP in 1993 but they still had a big 2000s impact. But bands like The White Stripes will make it because their first release was in 1999 or so I think and it didn't make much of an impact.

Sorry for lack of options, try to pick one.

I voted Arcade Fire. I've heard 3 of these bands and Arcade Fire is by far the best.

I voted Arcade Fire because in the 2000s they had Funeral, a classic, and Neon Bible which is solid. Animal Collective had Strawberry Jam, and Merriweather and both are great but I dislike anything pre2005 of theirs and they aren't as special as Arcade Fire. The White Stripes could have easily won this if they weren't so inconsistent, I loved two of their albums, hated a few others. Muse and Coldplay are not the winners for obvious reasons. The Strokes had three albums in the 2000s and only one was amazing.

Arcade Fire. Funeral is THE indie album of last decade.

I can't help but feel that Coldplay and Muse do not belong on that list

I think you need to change the semantics in this thread, but The Strokes were wildly influential both in terms of image and sound. They jumpstarted the switch back to lean indie rock that took its cues from garage rock and NYC punk/post-punk. Without them - or, more specifically, without the success they had - we'd be looking at a very different alt. rock landscape. That said, I wouldn't say any of these bands "molded" the decade in music, just certain areas or genres.

Listened to them all thoroughly and Arcade Fire are the most consistent.
Modest Mouse second, but they emerged in the 90's... (Still released some awesome albums in the 00's)
Radiohead should probably be there based on the strength of Kid A and In Rainbows.

The closest answer would probably be the White Stripes.

When I make polls I feel like I should make a thread before hand asking people what they want on it, but then there would be another pointless thread made by me and I'd already know some people's votes.
