My bad on The Cure, slipped. Didn't feel like going through all the pages again to check
I'm not seeing anything on the board about... non-racism (?), which is probably one of the better accusations out there anyway. And obviously it's a pop/rock-centric list, but to only tease two or three jazz cuts is... odd. I mean, if we're really going to go that route... Moanin', Take Five, Blue Train, Cheesecake, Caravan, etc. Big tickets could've had a healthier slice. You could plop Sing Sing Sing in the top 25 if they really wanted. Vocal jazz standards are the biggest offender to me though. Fly Me To The Moon? Sinnerman? Cry Me A River? You Don't Know What Love Is? I'm Glad There Is You? Ain't Misbehavin'? Feeling Good? I Put A Spell On You? Fever? Autumn Leaves? One For My Baby? Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love)? My Funny Valentine? Unforgettable? April In Paris? It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing? I've Got You Under My Skin? They Can't Take That Away From me? Girl From Ipanema??? SUMMERTIME??? Someone needs to teach these young whippersnappers how to use a gramophone. C'mon.
(if I missed any of these on the list, I apologize... just don't remember seeing them).
No harm done though. Just a popular publication list (aka Something we can all enjoy complaining about ). And ultimately, like I said, it's still a decent bunch. Just needed to branch out a bit more (for a top 500 after all). _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

On a more serious note... I have gone all the way to 401 and have been very impressed on the amazing songs they have included so far. While I know Rolling Stone do not have much of my favorites on their radar (Although as they are American I would love to see a Sparks song in the top 400... even if they did the choice is obvious) I am happy so far.
So there is that I will be checking out the songs I have not heard below 401 and look forward to the rest. _________________ More needs and less greed

Saying this list is racist against white people is just

Related more generally to the conversation, the user feedback on recognized charts is so out of proportion. I swear if the exact same charts had been created by users instead of magazines, they'd have average ratings in the high 80s instead of the 50s. Whether fairly or unfairly, people on BEA hold publications to very different standards. _________________ Add me on RYM

I can generally agree with that.
Maybe it's because they are publications and it's their job to be more "professional" than your average "BEA user" and the publication has a bigger platform. If the user created the same chart, of course it would be more "acceptable" as those charts are reflections of one individual music-lover's personal taste, not a handful of industry-insiders who are trying to tell the world what's great and what not. But I could be wrong _________________ My Top 100 :

Not to keep on the Pitchfork train, but there's a new reader's list out
https://pitchfork.com/features/lists-an...niversary/
It's an odd denomination, top 200 albums from 1996-2021 (which, as much as it sounds like a lie, actually hits four decades), but I thought users might be interested in comparing it to our own.
I actually think it's quite good. I would have participated had I known. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

Going to see Skinnyman’s first ever Birmingham headline show tonight. Unbelievably hyped. Twenty years I’ve waited. Been listening to Council Estate of Mind back-to-back all week. It’s wild how well it stands up. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
