Does album art matter? Does album art change how you perceive the music? Does it make an album more/less serious? Does album art define an album? Can it make or break an album? Should it be taken seriously? What makes album art good in your opinion? What's your favorite album cover? Is it good to have themes to your album covers? Why did Daft Punk break their theme? Is simplicity good?

Of course album art matters! But actually only after I've decided I like the album itself or not, then I can see the album cover and be appropriately delighted or disgusted. Some of my favourites are the 80s Maiden and Metallica covers. I'm trying to think of an album I love where the art sucks....oh, yes, "Around the Fur" by Deftones, haha. More often the art becomes good somewhat because of the music, so that one's actually a rare exception.
But anyway, the album art does not make or break an album, lest we talk in numbers sold, and not quality of songwriting. Maintaining a theme is cool, though, like Iron Maiden have.

I'm not bothered. In fact, much of the opposite. I just noticed it was similar to my thread.

Oh alright, I just saw someone bring up if album art matters on there, and thought it deserved it's own thread and conversation.

I think the album artwork is very important. It's an extension of the artist's work (although the act doesn't always contribute to it,I still feel the same) and it's a part of how they want their art to be consumed and is just as important as track sequencing in that respect,as far as i'm concerned.
