^ this is so awesome ^
Sometimes I feel a bit alienated; so alone. No matter how content I become, I wish I could feel normal all the time but I know I'm different and experience life much differently than many. Through this journey, I've learned so much. One of the things I've learned is to be careful with which ways I alter my perceptions. I remember taking too many grams of shrooms with old high-school friends which led to one of the most painful periods in my life. I remember going insane, helping a friend with an existential crisis and becoming intimately acquainted with my most concentrated loneliness. During the trip, I saw gears engaging and disengaging as a loose metaphor for human interaction and communication. It's a bit far-reaching, I know, but picture this: when we are alone, our minds are spinning at their own pace. You can watch, in that nakedly honest state, a person completely relate and their face noticeably change to reflect their connection to the topic at hand. As we begin to truly communicate with another, we must engage another on some relevant level. As we interact, we begin to realize how utterly complex the other person's life is. The process of engaging and disengaging from a conversation has always been a challenge for me but to witness the process has always been magic to me. These photographs aren't worlds colliding, they are worlds intermingling. It's great to know that none of us is an island and it's bliss to see how humanizing these photographs are. I tear up a bit each time I look through these windows of human history.
TL;DR = These are great additions to this thread. Thank you. _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/ptaylor1989
