- Post subject: BEA points
|
So what if we had a system of digital currency? Every new user starts with 100 BEA points, and can earn more when a comment he/she makes is upvoted (thus encouraging more quality posting), or for participating in forum games or something of the like. BEA points could be exchanged for user score or traded in for prizes like the ability to have a larger avatar (or other things along those lines). Also, bets could be placed and prize points could be offered during the various tournaments that frequently occur in the game section. I realize it's a frivolous idea and that there are probably far more important site changes that would be implemented first, but what do you guys think of this idea?

BEA MMO, I can see it now, obviously it's free to play although if you subscribe you get access to member only features including additional BEA points.

Justice is not a frivolous thing, Simpson. It has little if anything to do with a disobedient whale.

It would certainly expand the horizons and make the site more fun but I think there's too much stuff on albummaster's to-do list and this suggestion is a lot of work but it'd be good if it is considered for, say, next three years because the suggestion has the potential of making this site even more awesome.

But seriously, it sounds interesting enough. But one thing to consider is what will happen if a user trades in too many points and gets his level downgraded. He could lose any decade or year charts. Should there be a cap to keep you from downgrading a level?

The one problem I can see with this "post ranking" is say someone posts in "what album are you listening to". Then a bunch of uses who hate that album down vote it. I personally wouldn't want that affecting my points.
