a lot's changed on here since i brought this up a year ago here

i think it might just be what the site needs at this juncture. it means less new threads for old topics. it means new topics aren't lost as quickly. more users are creating their own music - it means they could all be kept in one sub-forum. it means stuff like this could be accounted for. and more possibilities.

i guess it'd be a lot of work for am -so it's nothing to take lightly - and wouldn't be anything that would happen for quite a while even if it was accepted by the majority at large.

am, would you be open to taking a new vote for this to see what the consensus is? and everyone else - do you think it would benefit bea? or do you prefer it the way it is?

I think this is a fantastic idea, I also think a "Post your music" subforum would be a great addition.

Agree with Jhereko. Seeing as we're growing relatively faster and faster, it won't be long before the "Music" forum becomes difficult to sort through (especially with the amount of threads being created). What subforums would we be talking about, though? Post Your Music seems like a cool idea. Opinions too. Maybe "Comparisons" or "Recommendations" or "Requests"? The * of the day need their own subforum too, IMO.

Now I love Unknown Pleasures - i mean i suppose we could have a separate 'post-punk' forum bu then where does it end?

music general could be further divided into things like; polls, right now threads, music philosophy etc - but that might overcomplicate things.

these are just my thoughts. i'm sure others have other ideas. there's lots of ways this could be sliced.

I can't see a downside. Yeah, it would really help with continuing lost discussions.

I would agree a few sub-forums would be a nice idea, particularly one for the Thingy of the day.

I like the separate forum for the items of the day and for musicians.

Not sure I'm crazy about forums specific for genres. I think there would always be questions about how many you need and where does it end. I think there would easily be disagreements about what goes where and therefore a lot of unnecessary policing and maintenance.

Sounds great - if there's one thing that irks me about the forums is the lack of sub-forums.

At the very least we need Music Discussion split into a number more - one board for a music forum is waay to hectic.

Just one forum for music is too general. It would be better if we had all "... of the day" and anniversary and this vs. that threads in one separate sub-forum and other threads in a general sub-forum.

I'm in favour of re-categorising things to make the forums easier to browse, but the problem is how to split things up to the right level of granularity without making it too confusing for people using the forums and without pushing a lot of work onto the moderators.
