As an album, I prefer Closer, but Unknown Pleasures has my favorite Joy Division song, Day of the Lords. _________________

BEA's love affair with Joy Division actually convinced me to give them another listen. Shock of all shocks, I've been converted. _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.

Brilliant, obviously. I slightly prefer Unknown Pleasures, but my love for both albums is limitless.

I agree,Unknown Pleasures is slightly better.I prefer it's more immediate sound,it cuts through a room, whereas closer sort of swirls through it and fills it up,but it's nice to have both,I usually listen to them back to back and thus why I felt the need to compare them here.In terms of song writing I've never been big on lyrics and can't really see the progression here that many allude to.

Both Unknown Pleasures and Closer range from the 20-30th position on my chart, but I only allow one on at a time. It's been Closer for a long time though.
Decades, Isolation and Twenty-Four Hours still give me chills.. Fantastic album. I found it on vinyl the other day too Going to go back and buy it soon. _________________ Submit Your List for BEA's 2023 Film Poll!

It's second to Unknown Pleasures in only one way: I can listen to it only when I'm the mood for taking in the utter despair in which it plunges me. Which is not so often nowadays. That said, the record's a masterpiece.

Masterpiece by one of the best bands ever, as you already know. Joy Division usually gets me dancing. I've stolen my thrash metal enthusiastic friend's "cutting trees"-dance move - where you pretend to cut trees with your hands - for Heart and Soul. It's used for fast metal parts, but I can't think of a moment for which it fits more perfectly to than for Stephen Morris' repeated three-in-a-row snare hits in that song. Best thing I've ever heard produced by a drumset

Can you elaborate on this "cutting trees" move? Maybe a video or something. I've been to several thrash metal shows and I'm not quite sure what dance move you're referring to. _________________
