You said 45 before. Or does listening to this album make it worse? I could see how that might happen.

Possibly the most influential album of the last few years, especially in the indie scene, and probably in the R'n'B scene too. Think about how many hushed, faux-sexy, R'n'B and post-dubstep inspired indie pop albums we've had in the last couple of years alone (Rhye, inc., Darkstar, Sean Nicholas Savage, Autre Ne Veut, Daughter, Toro y Moi, How To Dress Well, The Weeknd, James Blake, etc.). I'm not saying these artists wouldn't be making that music if it weren't for The xx, or that many of them even sound particularly like The xx, but I certainly think record labels would be less willing to take a punt on and promote artists of that nature were it not for The xx's success. And I think their debut is brilliant. It was a breath of fresh air, obviously influenced by Aaliyah and Timbaland, but also by the likes of Massive Attack and, in particular, Portishead, and clearly very aware of the post-dubstep scene that was happening around them at the time, well produced and with huge choruses to boot. Also, 'Basic Space' is one of my favourite songs of the last five years. A real gem of an album.

Are you keeping tabs on my sexual habits?

And yes listening to the xx makes me orgasm. It's quiet and dark and catchy. It's essential "boring" music. It feels strange when I listen to this in the day, it seems like it was made to hear in the dark. I'm constantly changing which album of theirs is the best (right now I think coexist) but they're basically equally as great. It's no secret I love these guys and their probs my fav band of the last 5 yrs.

I kinda like this album. Their second one is one of the albums which had the less impact on me ever, though. I guess I could say it had an impact, then, but yeah, you know. Boring. But I like this one.
