I think I know what the community's reaction will be, but what the hell...Entertainment Weekly's list of 100 greatest albums is out. Wondering how much the BEA will hate it:

http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,2071207...l#21351463

I'm not transcribing the full list, but this will give you a good idea of how the remaining 90 shake out.

Thoughts?

It's not awful but I am a bit bothered by Adele and Kanye West being in the top 20.

Considering the albums above them on the list, I think these are too low.

81. Pixies, Doolittle
78. Bjork, Post
77. My Bloody Valentine, Loveless
76. Talking Heads, Remain in Light
62. The Replacements, Let It Be
56. Arcade Fire, Funeral
50. The Smiths, The Queen is Dead
45. Radiohead, OK Computer
37. Pink Floyd, The Dark Side of the Moon
34. David Bowie, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
22. The Beatles, Abbey Road
13. Marvin Gaye, What’s Going On

And considering the albums below them on the list, I think these are too high.

79. Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin IV
74. Amy Winehouse, Back to Black
69. Sonic Youth, Daydream Nation
59. Metallica, Master of Puppets
57. Alicia Keys, Songs in A Minor
53. The Flaming Lips, The Soft Bulletin
49. LCD Soundsystem, Sound of Silver
48. Outkast, Stankonia
47. The Cure, Disintegration
46. The Beatles, Rubber Soul
44. Michael Jackson, Off the Wall
43. Madonna, Madonna
36. Jay-Z, The Blueprint
28. Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
24. Daft Punk, Discovery
23. U2, Achtung Baby
17. Adele, 21
12. The Beatles, The White Album
8. Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
7. Aretha Franklin, Lady Soul
4. Michael Jackson, Thriller

Not bad at all. Especially when you consider it's coming from a populist, star obsessed rag (and we've seen many of these sorta lists from those sort of publications). I really like it (apart from the #1).

Also thanks DLGGLD for the full list so I didn't have to go through another fucking slideshow (when will these sites learn that no wants to waste their time clicking on a damn 'next' arrow 99 times)

At first glimpse, I was surprised when I saw the Prince is in second place. I am okay with that, but it's still surprising. The entire list is a disappointment. So many good albums are placed much too low.

I've seen a lot worse. Pretty decent list overall.
