... it's a fun read, but most of these artists are compared to artists i haven't heard of before... or are on the fringe of the experimental, which is TMT's forte, of course. In the least, it compels me to give the new flaming lips album another listen..

This is pretty interesting. I really only know a couple of these records. I have such mixed feelings about Tiny Mix Tapes. They can be like that pretentious kid who very specifically likes things no one else has ever heard of just to be different.

I've listened to that Flaming Lips album quite a bunch. It's dark but it's also nowhere near my favorite Lips record

I've not read that much of tinymixtape material so I'm not familiar with their point of view but seeing Jenny Hval and L. Pierre on the list was nice.

Tiny Mix Tapes is generally snarky and elitist, but I do find out about quite a few great releases through them.

That review for The Terror was kinda nice. I'm gonna read some other ones and maybe check out some of those albums.

They tend to love the minimalist or avant or heavy rock (like death metal) or other "extreme" (from say a pop/rock perspective) musical categories as that. Once in a while i find a nice gem on that site i normally wouldn't find anywhere else (although quietus is turning into a TMT2 site -- here's their 2013-so-far list.)

Well that seems nice. should check out some of those, esp. Legacy by RP Boo (both have it).

I'm surprised there's no Field Of Reeds on there, if I remember correctly they fucking loved it. Ah well, The Quietus are for sure going to put FoR on their end of year list, so someone will give it the recognition it deserves.
