Love them but didn't vote, the Holocene Epoch being a bit of a stretch- how about the 21rst century instead?

No. Quite possibly the best band of the 1990s though.

This is just a silly question. On what criteria can we evaluate this? The vast majority of music produced during the Holocene Epoch was not made by "bands". Much, much more of it can be attributed to the collective unit of classical composers, solo artists, and chants/hymns/folk songs/other musical traditions of untraceable origin (I would estimate the last of these to be responsible for well over 99% of all music created during the epoch in question). Not to mention, the term "band" is incredibly ambiguous (Nine Inch Nails, Owl City, etc., combined with the fact that artists such as David Bowie and Bob Dylan almost always had bands backing them; also, changing lineups).
Additionally, as I mentioned, what's the criteria? How does one go about comparing Radiohead to the Boston Philharmonic?
I also think ranking artists in general is a nonsensical endeavor, but my reasoning for that isn't really pertinent to this thread.
Anyway, no. I'm voting no.

Considering the Holocene is like the last 10,000 years roughly, this is basically asking what the greatest band in the history of music is... (Unless I'm somehow overlooking music from pre-Holocene eras/epochs... )
Anyway, I'm gonna go with no. _________________

Agreed. This is sort of a silly poll, considering the Holocene epoch began about 12,000 years ago and we only have access to music from the past 500-600 years or so.
That being said, the absurdity of the question at hand kind of does make me want to vote the Lips as the best band of the epoch. _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

What the heck, seeing as this is clearly a silly poll, I'm gonna go ahead and vote yay.
Although I think I would prefer to nominate Talking Heads, Arcade Fire, or Pink Floyd as top. Flaming Lips would be 4th for me.

So you're basically asking if they are the best band ever? No, not even close.
