It's so cool to hate the stuff that has stood the test of time for over 40 years. I mean...if it's at or near the top of the overall chart (which is a conglomeration of pretty much ALL charts, onsite and off), then it must truly suck. Right?
I love Dark Side of the Moon (and I openly criticize Floyd) but please don't ever use popularity (which is based on quantity of favorability) as a counterpoint, it doesn't work.

Or, y'know, people might just genuinely not think it's that great. I love Pet Sounds and Blood on the Tracks and Please Please Me and The Doors and Forever Changes, so why would I pretend not to like The Dark Side of the Moon in an attempt to appear cool? I know your post wasn't specifically aimed at me, but it's not as though everyone who says they dislike this album is doing so in order to be cool. It just isn't for me, for reasons I outlined on the first page of thread.

Please don't assume you know what I'm talking about. The point isn't the popularirty. The point is that this is an album that hip to hate. _________________ May we all get to heaven

Bloody hell, It seems like people who claim that people like or dislike something because it is cool to outnumber the people who actually do dislike or like things to be cool.

Or people could just dislike it.
I love plenty of acclaimed Rolling Stone-type stuff. Bob Dylan is one of my favorite artists, and it doesn't get much more than "classic" him.
But I do not like this album. And please, enlighten me about this phenomena and about other albums that are "hip to hate" because I do not see this trend anywhere and users keep bringing this up. Why can't we accept that people just don't enjoy certain albums, acclaimed or no?
