it's the production. the production on 99% of modern emo albums is horrible. At The Drive In's Relationship of Command was the beginning of the end. I love that album, but the production nearly destroyed it.
Interesting, I'll make sure to stay away from contemporary emo albums then. I liked Relationship of Command too and somehow I don't remember having a problem with the production. It's been a while since I listened to it though.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I still love Relationship of Command, but the production was unnecessarily loud and cold. There's a sterility to it. The producer worked on a lot of shitty nü metal albums in the same era. My friends worked with him on an album about 5 years ago, and they hated the production so much that they essentially redid everything. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
