I much prefer their previous two records. It's still a very good album, full of exceptional tracks, but it sadly also contains many forgettable ones. Best Genesis is prog Genesis.
My favorite track here may be Carpet Crawlers, though the title track is not far behind.

Listening to the album has never been a displeasure. That being said, I've never cared much for the album cover. I don't know why, but it looks so messy to my eyes. _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

Well, yeah. The warm fuzzy feeling I get inside when I look at it has more to do with all the times it's content has blown my mind. Part 1 that is, part 2 should be avoided at all costs, with a few exceptions.

At its best it's alright. At its worst it's pretty mediocre. So yeah, pretty mid-range. Unfortunately, it is a rock opera, and it is a double album (both strikes against it), but there are a few pretty good tracks, so it's not a total waste.
Still, there's no reason you should ever listen to this album when you have Foxtrot and Selling England to listen to instead.

I'm not following you. You're not suggesting that you dislike the second half of your favourite album of all time, are you? _________________ "The Beatles, the greatest band known to mankind." - Bismah Mughal

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is currently #2 on my overall chart and will remain for sure one of my favourite albums ever.
There are numerous brilliant songs also on the 2nd album, Lilywhite Lilith, Anyway, The Lamia, The Colony of Slippermen and it, just to name a few.
I think TLLDOB and Selling England by the Pound are their best albums (Gabriel-era albums) and if I count the post-Genesis era as well, then I'd add The Trick of the Tail too.
The Top3 is closely followed by Foxtrot. Foxtrot has many good songs, Supper's Ready being the best on it but I don't like that much the how Watcher of the Skies or Get 'Em out by Friday sounds. I prefer the Live albums versions a lot more.

Why you are not satisfied enough with part 2? Which songs do you think should be avoided?
p.s. I like your Tony Banks avatar.
