If was really tough to pick between a handful of records I have on my 2013 chart that have yet to appear on any other charts. I considered the soulful new Willis Earl Beal record but figured new reviews and a Cat Power cameo may lead you to hear that one.
Friend Roulette is one of my favorite local bands. They are truly unique in the Brooklyn music landscape. Highly trained chamber musicians, they've utilized those talents and a fondness for psychedelia, resulting in a swirling psych chamber pop with unexpected twists and turns.
