This album is pretty average to me. I much prefer their next two albums. "Clint Eastwood" is great of course, though.

I am whole-heartedly convinced that Damon Albarn can do no wrong in his career at this point. This album has a lot more experimentation than Demon Days or Plastic Beach, but it just shows ambitious Gorillaz wanted to be when they first hit the scene. While the two aforementioned records are more focused on what sounds they wanted to bring, the s/t tries a bunch of different stuff. It's a trial and error process, for sure, but it has Damon's seal of approval, and that's a really good thing. _________________

This and Demon Days were two of the most important albums I ever had, in terms of cultivating my musical taste. I got them both when I was eleven. At the time, I didn't really appreciate s/t's experimentation, even though I liked the album well enough. As I've developed my tastes, and listened to more music, I don't think I've heard anything else quite like this. Sometimes, it doesn't stick the landing, but on the whole, this is an amazing piece of work.

Plastic Beach isn't your average pop album. Yes, it is the most accessible out of their discography, it has a polished feel to it and has abstract and original collaborations (but even that's a vital and unique characteristic to this album), but what sets it apart is its structure. The songs have a quirky feel to them while also having their moments of grandeur and sometimes being smooth as fuck. It makes its concept much more significant when you have a vast array of sounds coming at you at once. It's like your pop music at a more primitive and transcendental stage. _________________

Demon Days was the only one of theirs that I could actually make it through, and even it wasn't too impressive.

I like this one better than Plastic Beach, actually. Very front-heavy though. Last track is killer though. I was always confused as to how "Rock the House" was chosen for a single when it's easily one of the worst tracks on the album. _________________ kill yr idols
