OK, I recently got this cool idea after making a "top 30 albums" chart for my brother. We could "make up" lists that of our friends and family members, and other people can rate them!
I'll start with my brother's:
1. Fly By Night-Rush
2.Master of Puppets-Metallica
3. Number of the Beast-Iron Maiden
4. Paranoid-Black Sabbath
5. The Wall-Pink Floyd
6. In the Court of the Crimson King-King Crimson
7. Dream Theater-Scenes From a Memory
8. Deus Ex Machinae-Machinae Supremacy
9. Maggot Brain-Funkadelic
10. Primus-Antipop
11. Rush-2112
12. Rust in Peace-Megadeth
13.Aqualung- Jethro Tull
14. Powerslave-Iron Maiden
15.. Operation Mindcrime-Queensryche
16. Master of Reality-Black Sabbath
17. Ride the Lightning-Metallica

my mum buys whatever simon cowell's marketing machine has chucked out this week (g4, paul potts, leona lewis, susan boyle etc)
my dad's obsessed with the pretty things and the smoke, which to my ears, sound terribly mediocre compared to the greats of that era
one of my brothers likes lil wayne, styles p, jadakiss and a lot of smooth auto-tuned rap.. the other listens to wrestling theme music and akon dance remixes
my friends are into all manner of crap such as drum n bass type stuff like pendulum, dream theatre, liquid tension experiment etc. some of my other mates are into uk garage and pop music of the minute.
some are into 'urban soul' ..inisipid crap like d'angelo, floetry, jill scott, musiq soulchild etc and the 'rockier' ones tend to go for garbage like dave matthews band.
i don't try to convert any of them. i just secretly think they're all completely tasteless.

My mother is big into 70's rock and Glamrock, eg T-Rex and the likes... My Father likes 60's and 70's rock, folk, etc, and he now likes 00's rock eg Arcade Fire..
My brother is into "good" music, well like folk, rock, classical, but then he also spreads out into new rap like "Passout" which I don't get..
I have tried at school to stay with people who have a similar taste in music, just for another topic to discuss, but alot of their knowledge is minimal, and the rest of my friends only like mainstream music, or rap, or crappy drum'n'bass shit!

My mum's into pop music stuff like abba and P!nk
Dad's into classic rock and 80's pop, he's who I got most of my music taste from.
One brothers into pop/rock, his favourite bands are 30STM Weird Al and P!nk (seems a trend in my family)
The other listens to rap and metal.
My friends listen to classic rock and metal pretty much.
