Also, I find that musically inexperienced people are usually fairly ignorant of genres...That is why you'll often hear them say things like "I listen to everything". |
As well as disregarding genres to a ridiculous apex where they don't understand or comprehend them.

I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. But one thing is absolutely certain, genres can both hurt and help people. Not having them also hurts and helps people. The solution here is almost impossible.

This, along with virtually all the claims you're making, are based on a LOT of assumptions, and literally nothing empirical. _________________ 2023 Chart

Yes, this is what I'm referring to. Not labeling genres would get rid of that ignorance.

Pop idols and teenagers will never change that much is clear. But what is clear is one thing:
"Genre classification threads are absolutely worthless and a pedantic plague on forums".

Also, should one really consider disregarding genres as a whole just because of the habits of musically-inexperienced people? The musically naive? They'll evolve in their musical taste (most will anyways). Who doesn't act like that when they're in their mid-teens? I know I did. But as I matured, so did my musical taste. _________________ 2023 Chart

Fine. This is just getting me mad. I need to calm down. I was being a bit of an asshole. I'm sorry, guys. It won't happen again. I'm not the fucking MLK of music.
