What is your personal favorite musical decade? I now have the ability to make decade charts and was wondering what your favorites were.

The 2000s was my decade. I grew up tremendously during those years and it sparked a lot of great talents - new or established. It's the decade where I feel the most comfortable. _________________

If I ignore all of the bad stuff, the 90s was my favorite. I was a teenager, so I'm sure that's part of it, but it's also the decade of perfected shoegaze, Low, Spiritualized, Blur, Mr Bungle, Guided By Voices, etc.

For me, it's the 70s. So many unbelievable things were happening during this decade, from the origin of metal to the progressive rock movement, to the piano pop movement to the early punk movement, the 70s are where it's at for me. The 90s are a close second for me.

normally I would always vote for either 90's or 70's, but i went with 10's this time. the music i find myself overwhelmed by recently is all from this decade. Like 4 of my top 10 are from the 2010's, and 3 of those are from 2012/13. _________________ My top songs of the 2010s

1. 90s
2. 60s
3. 00s
4. 50s
5. 70s
6. 80s
7. 40s
I'm biased, of course. The '90s were my high school years and the '60s had the Beatles and Bob Dylan. The rest is more rational. The indie scene that started in the '90s really took off in the '00s and I think that was super healthy for the music world. The '50s had most of the best jazz, as well as the birth of rock and roll. The '70s was a decade of extremes -- prog rock on one end and punk rock on the other, both of which were interesting but mostly not my scene. The '80s was the peak of metal (*really* not my thing) and most of the pop was unbearable. There was a lot of cool stuff going on underground, but it was often very experimental. Finally, there were plenty of interesting artists in the '40s, but their recordings were often inconsistent and the LP wasn't even invented until 1948. I'm sure it would have been a fun time to see music live, though.
