Rolling Stone's top ten and my top ten have one album in common. RS's top ten literally only has four worthy albums there (Like Clockwork, AM, Trouble Will Find Me and RAM- although some could argue Modern Vampires of the City, but I've never really been a fan of Vampire Weekend).

"Some could argue" the case for any of them. The idea that five or six of these ten records are inarguably definitely not some of the best of the year is absurd. None of them are particularly to my liking (in fact, I think maybe one of those Top 10 is in my Top 100 for the year, and even that won't be there when the next update happens), but it doesn't mean they're unworthy. They're popular albums, and a lot of people (including Rolling Stone writers) clearly like them.

I'm not sure what Pitchfork, The Wire or Tinymixtapes #1 of the year will be... Think Anyone wanna have a guess?

So far I've seen 3 published lists (Rolling Stone, Spin and MOJO), Rolling Stone is probably the best. There's really only two noticeable omissions and them being The 20/20 Experience and We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors Of Peace And Magic. The inclusion of Franz Ferdinand is a little bit surprising, I love FF but I thought that album was a bit stale. Happy to see most of my favourites in the 15 though, particularly Disclosure which I'd say was the most underrated album of the year.

Thanks Hayden. I think this list is totally something you'd appreciate. I'm listening to Grumbling Fur for the first time right now and it's rather wonderful. Textured landscapes of sound. Some instrumental tracks, some with vocals. Very serene ambience. strong track to track variation, while staying cohesive. I can see why it's #1, though it may not be my #1

Pitchfork are usually quite predictable don't you think? They usually follow their ratings throughout the year closely.

It bet it will bare strong resemblance to this:

agreed, but we'll see some of those less popular albums drop down quite a bit. P4K doesn't take risks

I already have a huge backlog Laughing But there's a solid 30 albums on that chart that I want to check out... I've heard about 35 of them I think.. by looking at it. The inclusion of Katie Gately's EP surprises me.. Great release, but I didn't even think anyone knew about it to be honest Laughing

I honestly don't think Pitchfork's list will resemble their ratings this year Confused They've put out some unreasonable numbers... And I think they know that Laughing Phosphorescent's Muchacho and LongLiveAsap in particular.

I just can't see Kanye getting it for some reason Think Not sure why.

I just finished it. It's awesome. That Quietus list has a ton in common with yours. After being disappointed with so much music this year, I'm now having my faith restored
