I'm extremely impressed. The folk section could have been better, but oh well

Quite a few surprises!

Should we put our hopes/predictions here?

Record of the Year: Get Lucky
Album of the Year: Good Kid, M.A.A.D City
Song of the Year: Jesus Christ all this shit sucks
Best New Artist: Kendrick (Granted I haven't listened to any Musgraves or James Blake)
Best Rock Performance: My God Is The Sun
Best Rock Album: ...Like Clockwork
Best Alternative Album: I haven't listened to Tame Impala (sounds a lot like my thing though) so I'm going with Neko Case
Best Rap Performance: oh my goodness the only acceptable song is Swimming Pools. Started From The Bottom? Are you fucking kidding me?

And that's all I'll say to avoid overly repetitive answers. All this tells me is that I need to expand my musical taste.

I'm surprised there's no Luke Bryan actually. I've heard his new album wasn't great, but it sold quite a bit. Figured it would have at least received a nomination.

Impressed? about what? It's all pretty much all major label trash.

this was nominated for best rock performance:
Kashmir
Led Zeppelin
Track from: Celebration Day
Label: Swan Song/Atlantic

and then look at the metal category:
Anthrax, Black Sabbath, Dream Theater, Killswitch Engage?

What year is this?

Did you have to exist as a band at the start of rock & roll to be nominated in that category. jesus christ.

Maybe getting onto a major label is a sign you are capable of creating something great enough to get nominated for a Grammy? Think

sometimes. yes. or maybe being nominated for a Grammy has something to do with the amount of money backing your record.

Kanye got snubbed everywhere Laughing Oh well.

Yeah, the groups and stuff aren't great. Best New Artist might be worse than usual though for respectability... Kendrick and James Blake have been around for about 4 years and Macklemore and Kacey Musgraves have been around for about 10...

Surprised with the Blake nom though.

I was highly impressed with these nominations. Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City getting nominated for album for the year, and then Kendrick's other nominations, especially for his remix with Miguel, which was one of my favorite singles of the year. Neko Case, Tame Impala, THE NATIONAL!!!!!!!!, Disclosure, James Blake, and Queens of the Stone Age all getting nominated was pretty spectacular as well. It was a little bullshit that Yeezus didn't get an Album of the Year nomination, but that's a minor complaint.
