I love both bands .. boths albums (LZ IV) & (The Wall) are in my chart .. and this is one the greatest arguements in music .. Ive had this discussion with SO many people .. and personally I have to agree with you .. Comfortably Numb edges out .. I made my mind up about 4 years ago and havent changed it since! _________________ Having a family is the kind of thing that could be held against a person

As much as I love Pink Floyd, and am indifferent to Led Zeppelin, I have to say that Stairway to Heaven definitely wins in this department.
I mean, Comfortably Numb is good, but it by no means is among the greatest songs ever made. Even on The Wall, there are better songs.

Whether or not the song is better is not the disucssion .. because stairway will always win hands down .. The solo in comfortably numb is way better! _________________ Having a family is the kind of thing that could be held against a person

Two monolithic solos! I really love the first Comfortably Numb solo section- the word "soaring" gets kind of abused when describing solos, but that is a perfect example of a major scale solo with wings! The second and most famous solo section is less interesting to me now, probably because i spent a lot of my adolescence listening to and learning it!
Stairway I'll have to say is cooler. Its a bit slinkier, a tad more rock n roll. And as far as function within a song, I think it bridges the verse section into the heavy finale with purpose and ease, whereas Comfortably Numb just fades out. Stairway dances between grace and sleaze effortlessly, and its kind of Jimmy Page's de facto statement, where I think Gilmour's best is "Time".

Everything you just said is pretty much the reason why I think comfortbaly numb is better .. The song not being there best, not being a signature song .. The way it fades out .. its a gem! _________________ Having a family is the kind of thing that could be held against a person

Both songs are pretty much their signature songs, or at least top 3. Gilmour was more about precision and scope, Page was about sweat and slop. I'll take the latter. Kind of a Beatles Stones argument.

Let me enlighten you.
George Washington - one of the first president of the United States
Barney - revered purple dinosaur
Lennon/McCartney - songwriters for insect-pun-obsessed britpop group
Rihanna - smokin hot black chick
Do not resist my input Naples. DO NOT RESIST.
