- Post subject: What Should Be Number 1 Album?
|
If there were more people on this site .. Say 500,000 with the same international distribution there is currently on the site ..
Would OK Computer still be number 1 .. if not what album do you think would be?
(Just to summarise, its not what you think it should be, but the album you honestly believe would be) _________________ Having a family is the kind of thing that could be held against a person

I believe it would be Revolver. OK Computer would still be in the top 5 though.

i think that Is This it ? - The Strokes deserves the 1st place ....
i know , the question was who deserves the first place... according to acclaimedmusic, which is, i think, the best chart about the most acclaimed albums, the winner would be The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds ... don't ask me why because this album is not even in my top 500 !

Well it would all stay the same for the most part...if you added more people it would only change each individuals input to the system by minimizing it.
But who knows! I'm sure Radiohead and The Beatles would still remain rampant in dominating the charts. I feel that the only reason that OK Computer is #1 is because it and the band has had much praise over the past decade (going on to two!) I'm sure in another ten years it will have all died down, hopefully.

This, basically. I wish more people would join up because I find the concept behind this site completely fascinating. _________________ I love all music. It makes you feel like living. Silence is death.

It's a really authentic site .. And possibly the only true way to find what are genuinely the best albums around ..
I think I've established the fact that I'm deffinetely not a Beatles fan .. From what I've heard and seen form various lists and personal opinion is that "Sgt Peppers" would be number 1

I'd still say it would be OK Computer b/c it's the 'best'/'biggest'/'most popular' album the past 20 years AND the internet is a thing used mostly by newer younger generations. The majority of people on here are under the age of 30 and although a lot of us may like the old stuff as well, the majority of users on here are going to be young and familiar with mostly stuff the past 20 years.
If the entire world voted I think something by Elvis would be number one. _________________ And I stare at the sun.

Maybe as an artist he's the most well known, but he's not an album artist,he comes from the era when the single was king. I doubt most Elvis fans could name a favorite album of his that isn't a compilation. So, when you consider the factors of being popular worldwide and being a great album artist, you're talking about The Beatles. It would probably be Sgt Pepper.

You know people once said the same thing about The Beatles, and music fans are still talking about them over 40 years later. I think it's amazing that Radiohead is as popular as they are when you consider how weird, ambitious, and arty-farty they are. I actually think their stature is likely to grow as ambitious pop music becomes more rare.
