Really? Nebraska over 12 Years A Slave? Think Bit surprised by that, but it's still a really good cheek movie anyway. I'll be ecstatic if Her wins, but I really can't see that happening.

My order:

1. Her
2. 12 Years A Slave
3. The Wolf of Wall Street
4. Dallas Buyers Club
5. Nebraska
6. Captain Philips
7. Gravity
8. Philomena
9. American Hustle

Movies better than at least 6 of these: Frances Ha, Upstream Color and The Act of Killing Sad But I don't think documenturies usually get in for best picture. Shame.

I'm slightly surprised that Frozen isn't up for best picture... They really do snub animated films in that category.

Starting to doubt 12YAS' chances a little because reports like this are coming out from certain voters

Quote:
And I have not been able to bring myself to watch 12 Years a Slave. [I pressed the member to explain why.] Here is my problem: As you know, I am a senior. I have a lot of stuff in my head [I believe this is a reference to death]. What I don't want is more terrible stuff to keep in my head. I have never liked movies that have severe violence. Yes, I saw Schindler's List, but -- Look, I've lived long enough to know what it was like for a person to be a black person in America. I mean, it's not anything that I'm not aware of. I may still go and see it [the film], but I just don't want to. Is that terrible?

I meant to change it to Lea Seydoux or Julianne Nicholson (AUgust: Osage County) but Kaitlyn Dever was really good too.

and what's wrong with my supporting actor bit? Clooney? I thought he gave a really powerful underrated performance. I also think Supporting Actor is crazy weak this year.

Yeah I don't get the Clooney bit at all... I mean you know I loved Gravity, but I think the last thing I had on my mind when I walked out of the theatre was "damn, Clooney really gave a powerful performance here"...

Of course, I know you hated Fassbender, but.. not even Cooper or Leto did do enough for you?

I think he meant Bradley Cooper Think I really think it's a shoe-in for Jared Leto though, his performance is the best part of that entire movie.

hence "underrated". I loved Cooper the first time and I definitley had him as my win but I rewatched it yesterday dn it kinda went down (as well as everything else in that dog vomit of a film) though I still think he's very good (hence I have him as should win in my list) other picks would be:

Bradley Cooper, The Place Beyond The Pines (dude has been a fucking revelation these last couple of years)
James Gandolfini, Enough Said
Keith Stanfield and John Gallagher Jr (on rewatch he might be my fave of the year dunno)
Thomas Bo Larsen in The Hunt
John Hawkes in Arcadia

I mean...McConaughey kinda blows Leto off the screen at every moment but I agree Leto can't lose with that kind of role.
