At the time that the Beatles were putting together The White Album, George Martin was against the idea of making it a double album. He felt that it would be a stronger record if it only featured their best work, but ultimately he was overruled.

What if he hadn't been? Think about one of your favorite double albums and imagine that you're a producer charged with trimming it to a standard-length LP. What tracks would you keep and what would you toss? Try to pick a reasonably well known album so that others can comment on your choices. If you're feeling really ambitious, reorder the tracks for coherence.

Note that most single LPs are between 30 and 45 minutes (EDIT: just try to cut the album roughly in half). I'll start by doing it for The White Album.

1. Revolution 1
2. Happiness is a Warm Gun
3. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
4. Mother Nature's Son
5. Glass Onion
6. Julia
7. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
8. Sexy Sadie
9. Rocky Raccoon
10. Helter Skelter
11. Long, Long, Long
12. I'm So Tired
Hidden Track: I Will

3. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
4. Grey Seal
5. Your Sister Can't Twist (But She Can Rock 'N Roll)
6. Saturday Night
7. Harmony
8. Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding

That should be about 37 minutes.

Can't get behind any Agaetis Byrjun tracklist without Ny Batteri. On the other hand, () is better anyways.

Most albums are double albums by vinyl standards these days, lol.

Anyways, I'll do The White Album too, though I like it most how it is.

1. Wild Honey Pie
2. Savoy Truffle
3. Revolution 1
4. The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill
5. Happiness is a Warm Gun
6. Blackbird
7. Rocky Raccoon
8. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
9. Dear Prudence
10. Julia
11. Long, Long, Long
12. I'm So Tired
13. Good Night

I don't know how long this is but it looks good to me. Some I wish I kept. Long, Long, Long is the best song on it, I think. It's so pretty.

I know, I don't know why I did Agaetis Byrjun now because I genuinely didn't want to cut any tracks from it other than Avalon. I just think Ny Batteri and Hjartad Hamast are the weaker points in the album.

It's probably my favorite track to be honest, either it or Svefn-g-englar. If I was going to pick a weak point aside from Avalon, I'd probably get rid of the title track.
