That does look intriguing, thanks man. Any other good hard-to-find-outside-of-the-uk british shows to check out?
Not watching so much tele at the moment so it's hard to say. There's a new three part series of This Is England coming up sometime 2014 which I'm quite excited for, if you haven't already I'd recommend first watching the film and then the two mini series which followed as it's all excellent.
Pretty much sums up my thoughts. The whole show feels like it knows that it's primary audience is teenage girls in America who think the show is cute because of it's British and slightly lo-fi appeal.
So far I don't find this to to be the case and I'm on...series 4 I think? Though I've got the spirit of a teenage girl.
Doctor Who has been unwatchable due to its smarminess and forced, knowing attempts at being 'quirky' ever since Eccleston left. I wouldn't bother with it if I were you. Every time I've seen it over the past few years it just seems smug and insincere.
is Sherlock any good? im kind of skeptical about it so i haven't watched it yet.
First season was amazing. Since then the writers have slowly been getting their heads stuck up their own butts with the show. Kinda like Doctor Who, seeing as it's written by the same guys.

what's the appeal of doctor who? I've only seen one episode and it was really batshit...
That was the appeal. Until the aforementioned insertion of Steven Moffat's cranium inside his rectum.
I've got a good feeling about Peter Capaldi as the doctor though, hopefully it'll return the show to it's less bubbly and stop it from becoming too patronizing.
Capaldi has been killing it. He's in my top three Doctors (yes, that's including the classic series. I'm one of those people). However, same complaints about the writing. If we can swap out the writers it'll be better than ever.

My exact thoughts on Series 8. I also think Clara has run her course. The writers should really think about developing a new character who's not a cipher to enhance the plot and overarching history of the Doctor. _________________

I agree, as for the most part I just don’t tend to enjoy Moffat as a showrunner though I don’t think he’s one-hundred percent awful in the writing department as he has shown throughout his run glimpses of enjoyable episodes. Still trying to catch up to everyone though, I’ve yet to get to Capaldi’s run but I’m looking forward to it as what I’ve seen is really good (from clips, word of mouth, etc).
