I remember there being a happy music thread before but it was like two years ago and I can't find it so, as the terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible techno-Nickelback cover band Imagine Dragons once said, "welcome to the new age".

So I've been seeing this girl lately who likes mix-CD's and wants me to introduce her to "music she's never heard of", but all she really listens to is bubblegum pop from the 90's. I've been trying to construct thus an album of catchy, upbeat tunes for this mix-CD I'm making her, the current tracklist being below:

AC Newman - I'm Not Talking
Patrick Wolf - Magic Position
Chromeo - Come Alive (feat. Toro Y Moi)
The Weakerthans - Our Retired Explorer Dines With Michel Foucault In Paris, 1961
Noah & The Whale - 5 Years Time
Flaming Lips - Yeah Yeah Yeah Song
I'm From Barcelona - We're From Barcelona
Jens Lekman - Friday Night At The Drive-In Bingo
The Go! Team - Huddle Formation
Eels - Mr E's Beautiful Blues
Mystery Jets - Young Love (feat. Laura Marling)
Ida Maria - I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked
The Polyphonic Spree - Hold Me Now
Dananananakroyd - Infinity Milk
The Unicorns - Child Star
Detektivbryan - Om Du Moter Varg
of Montreal - Heimdalsgate Like The Promethean Curse
Thao & The Get Down Stay Down - We The Common

...so gimme your thoughts, music mans, what happy mix-CD would you throw at a lover?

When I was listening to the indie music station, the one song my wife (a girl of the '90s) really got into was "I Love It" by Icona Pop. I feel like there must be an early Decemberists song you can throw in there too... how about "July, July" or "The Infanta." Also, for classic non-mainstream pop, I advocate "Care of Cell 44" by the Zombies.
