Hi all
you might remember a few months ago Harkan organised the first BEA collaboration mixtape and that went pretty well. At the time we talked about covering an album with each track done by a different user. I thought why not do this now. But we need to decide which album we'd cover. SquishypuffDave and I compiled this list of albums we think would be pretty fair and widely popular choices for all to cover. So, just vote for which of these do you think we should cover (whether you're intending to contribute or not). I've also added an 'other' option if you're really unhappy with the choices and if that gets the most votes we'll throw this out and start another discussion. It's just more likely we'll get stuff done if we get the ball rolling now and skip the conversation about which albums.

Ziggy Stardust. Don't ask me why, just seems the most fun idea to me for some reason.
EDIT: Or Rain Dogs. Actually yeah, Rain Dogs.
EDIT 2: Here's some other suggestions I think would be cool:
Nick Drake - Pink Moon (although the short number of tracks here could be a stumbling block)
The Replacements - Let It Be
Massive Attack - Blue Lines
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
Curtis Mayfield - Curtis (again, not too many tracks but collaborations aren't impossible)
The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin/Clouds Taste Metallic (just not Yoshimi)
Prince - Purple Rain

After much deliberation between Ziggy, Sinister, Silver and Computer went with Aeroplane.

I'd rather do Rumours than one of those three.

We did mention this. If lots of people are interested I reckon it could be a really interesting project.

Fuck it, order of preference:
=1. Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
=1. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
3. The Velvet Underground - The VU & Nico
4. Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

=5. Pixies - Doolittle
=5. Belle & Seb - If You're Feeling Sinister
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
7. the rest
But I'll support whatever is chosen. Would be interested to hear some other suggestions.

It doesn't matter what you pick, just don't do attempts at sounding close to the original, make something that will have a sound of your own. With that in mind, even Rumours is a good choice - fairly simple songs, a lot of room to do something of your own and make it better or at least more interesting. If you do something like Rain Dogs or VU & Nico, they're always gonna be more simplified versions of those songs, because I imagine you don't have those same instruments at your disposal.
Or something.
